1st DAY
  • DO NOT
    • Put down furniture or heavy objects
    • Walk on newly installed floors (avoid as much as possible – especially on the seams)
1st 2 DAYS
  • Keep the room at 68 degrees or higher to allow the adhesive to properly set.
1st 5 DAYS
  • DO NOT wet mop your new floor if installed with a glue-down / adhesive installation.

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly – followed by a warm water damp mop or an LVT / LVP safe cleaner
    • We recommend Bona® Stone, Tile & Laminate Cleaner (also recommended for LVT / LVP)
  • Clean up spills as quickly as possible:
  • Place interior and exterior mats at entrances to trap sand, grit, and other substances.
    • Avoid mats that have a rubber backing as this may cause damage or discolor your flooring.
  • Use protective pads or caps, such as Bona® Floor Guards, on feet of furniture.
    • Periodically check the felt tips for wear or buildup of grit/debris and replace as needed.
  • Fix rolling furniture with soft rubber casters.
  • For extra protection…Take your shoes off at the door!
    • Be sure to wear slippers or socks.
      • Your feet have oil on them that will transfer onto the floor.
  • Adhere to Manufacturer Warranty and Guidelines
    • Be sure to read any care and maintenance literature provided by the manufacturer because different styles and finishes can each have their own unique guidelines.
    • Floors Etc. will provide you with any product warranties upon completion of your project.

General Weekly Cleaning
  1. Vacuum or Sweep
    • The best method of removing dirt and grit is vacuuming.
    • If using the Bona® Pro Hardwood Floor Mop to dry mop, remove any loose dirt or grit on the mop afterwards by rinsing with water and wringing out the mop pad.
      • This should be done prior to cleaning floor.
  2. Clean:
    • Use a mop with warm water.
      • Use water by itself or use a manufacturer-recommended cleaning product.
        • This should be a cleaner that rinses clean, like Bona® Stone, Tile & Laminate Cleaner (also recommended for LVT).
For Spills and Messes
  • Wipe up as quickly as possible
  • Wipe the area clean with warm water – if necessary, use a no-residue cleaner, like Bona® Stone, Tile & Laminate Cleaner (also recommended for LVT / LVP).
  • If a stain remover is needed – follow Manufacturer Warranty and Care Guidelines.

The No-No's

      • Don’t slide heavy furniture or appliances across room.
        • Pick these pieces up to move – even if only a few feet.
      • Don’t steam mop LVT / LVP floors.
        • Excessive heat can damage the plank.
      • Don’t use vacuums with rotating beater bars
        • These can damage your floor’s surface
      • Don’t use wax or any other shine products
REMEMBER…This is NOT your Grandmother’s vinyl floor!
