Reclaimed wood is simply the most environmentally conscious choice possible. And it creates floors that embody a true “WOW” factor. Old growth trees cut down over a hundred years ago offer superior stability, weathered grace and an intense grain not available in lumber manufactured today. Chronicled history—like ferrous staining, bolt holes, and timeworn distressing—adds beautiful character.

  • Our trusted craftsmen have the experience and talent and to expertly craft floors made of reclaimed and antique wood.
  • Passionately painstaking!
    • Each piece must be:
      • Inspected for damage and all other quality issues.
      • Stripped of nails and any other metal.
      • Kiln-dried at high temperatures to dry the wood thoroughly and kill any possible insect infestation, like termites.
    • We work closely with you and with the mill to ensure your desired final look is achieved.
  • For wax finish floors, we offer a Wax and Buff service.
  • We also offer a Spray Buffing service—the correct way to clean and maintain floors with polyurethane finishes.

    • Reclaimed wood is up to 40 points harder on the Janka hardness scale than virgin wood because it often comes from old-growth trees instead of first-generation forests.

Drawbacks

  • Cost and Availability.
    • The process to locate, salvage, recover and mill this limited resource requires a lot of labor and time.
    • With an increasing demand and decreasing supply, the price of reclaimed and antique hardwood flooring is among the highest of options – and also one of the most beautiful.
  • Can only be refinished a limited number of times.
    • However, Prefinished Engineered Hardwood Floors are quite durable
  • Can sound more hollow when you walk on it, especially if you opt for a floating installation.
    • Premium engineered collections are a bit thicker, which will lessen hollow sounds
    • Stapling planks down can make them sound more solid
